A Dental Implant is a small titanium screw which is placed into the jaw bone to act as an artificial tooth root. An attachment called an ‘abutment’ is connected to the top of the Implant above the jaw line and it is the abutment that the Implant Crown ‘artificial tooth’ is connected to.

ZIRCONIA VS EMAX? CROWN VS LAMINATE VENEER?
If you think about getting your smile improved by having a dental restoration; deciding on the best treatment technique may be confusing. There are several techniques and materials used in Cosmetic dentistry. Most commonly used are Veneers and Crowns. Firstly, it should be understood that Zirconium and Emax are two different materials and used in restorations. Whereas, Crowns and Laminate Veneers are two different treatment techniques. The first step should be to decide on which technique is most suitable for the patient.
When should Laminates be the preferred treatment choice?
As one of the conventional cosmetic dental treatments Laminate Veneers are very thin porcelain layers applied to the outer (front) surface of the tooth. The most important advantage of Laminate Veneers, as opposed to the other types of dental restorations, is minimal evasive drilling of the natural tooth. And, in some cases, no drilling of the natural tooth is required. Also, in comparison to a composite restoration, Veneers are more resistant to stains. If you have discoloured, misaligned, chipped or crooked teeth, but prefer a less evasive treatment, you may wish to consider Laminate Veneers as a solution. Emax is used as a material on Laminate Veneers.
The Limits of Veneers?
Only applied on minor crookedness and symmetry problems on the anterior teeth. If teeth are very crooked the Laminate Veneer cannot be applied. Cannot be placed on top of a Crowned tooth.
Not suitable if a bridge is required i.e; missing tooth
Crowns are the most common of dental restoration techniques as they cover the whole tooth. It is a more evasive treatment but, allows the Dentist to fix larger aesthetic problems such as a crooked, misaligned and missing teeth.
EMAX or ZIRCONIA Crowns?
Both are used to deliver pleasing aesthetics. Both offer top grade results for long lasting dental Crowns. Consult with your dentist to decide which material is best suited to your dental needs.
EMAX is Lithium Disilicate Glass
An all ceramic system which is a more expensive material than Zirconium. It is one of the most aesthetically pleasing, creating incredible translucency and a very natural look that matches with other natural teeth. But, EMAX can only be applied to an individual tooth as it is more fragile than Zirconium. So, not preferred for Bridges or Posterior Crowns.
ZIRCONIA is Zirconium Dioxide
Zirconium dioxide is a white powdered metal oxide. It is also ceramic and incredibly strong, resistant to wear and difficult to crack. It can be the best option for full dental restorations.
Porcelain Crown is a type of restorative dental procedure. Porcelain crowns are essentially replacement tooth “caps” that cover an existing tooth to restore the size, shape, and/or strength of your tooth.
Porcelain crowns are permanent solutions to worn or chipped teeth. Once a porcelain crown is cemented into place, it becomes the tooth’s new exterior surface.
Crown - restoration, protects and covers the whole tooth
For those looking for a much whiter smile in a very short period of time, Laser whitening is one of the fastest whitening systems available in the world. Here, a higher concentration of whitening gel is applied to the teeth and activated with a high intensity plasma arc light. At the end of the appointment there is a noticeable change in the colour of your teeth.
Laser Whitening - eliminates surface staining
A root canal is needed when damage occurs to a tooth’s pulp. This can happen due to injury or due to severe tooth decay. A root canal is often a dreaded procedure but this can be an alternative to a tooth extraction and can be a very effective way to eliminate tooth pain.
